Software development

I owe my primary exposure to software development to the computer club at Western Michigan University. Python is my first—and primary—programming language. Being self taught, I found that looking at mature Python projects was the best, albeit challenging and sometimes disheartening, way to learn. Much of my growth was spending hours trying to understand from cclib; in fact, my first pull request ever was for cclib. sGDML, Ray, NumPy, Sphinx, PySCF, and Psi4 were also tremendously important for my career.

Today, I value open-source software that is well-documented, user friendly, and maintainable.
